More Than Just the Moment
There’s something about surprise proposals that never gets old for me.
Maybe it’s because I get a front-row seat to so much more than just the moment someone drops to one knee. It starts before that. It starts with the emails, the planning, choosing a location, figuring out timing, trying to keep everything a secret, and all of the anticipation leading up to it.
Then suddenly the day is here and I’m standing somewhere pretending not to notice anything while internally I’m invested right along with everyone else. 😂
Wrightsville Beach made the perfect backdrop for this one. As someone who photographs there often, it’s one of those places I never get tired of. The light changes every day, the breeze always seems to have a personality of its own, and there’s something about being near the water that makes everything feel a little slower and more intentional.
The best part is always the few seconds after it happens.
That moment when everything shifts and reality starts setting in. The nerves disappear, there’s excitement, disbelief, hugs, happy tears, and that "wait... this is actually happening" feeling.
Those are the moments I love documenting most.
Not perfection. Not overly posed moments.
Just real reactions and a story unfolding exactly as it happened.
To Andy + Brenna, thank you for trusting me to be part of such a huge moment in your lives. I’m so excited for what’s ahead for you both.
