Every wedding has its own rhythm, and from the very beginning, Natalie and Bri knew exactly how they wanted theirs to feel.
Rather than spending the day moving from one posed photo to the next, they wanted the focus to remain where it belonged: on each other, the people they love, and the moments they would remember long after the day was over.
Their wedding at The Elia in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina was built around connection. There were beautiful details, thoughtful touches, and timeless portraits, but what stood out most were the hugs that lasted a little longer, the laughter that filled the room, and the quiet moments they shared when no one else was paying attention.
As a documentary-inspired wedding photographer in Wilmington, NC, my goal is never to recreate a wedding day. It's to preserve it honestly while gently guiding couples into natural portraits with an editorial flair that still feel true to who they are. Natalie and Bri also loved motion-driven portraits, so we intentionally wove those into the day, creating space for movement, laughter, and genuine connection without ever taking them out of the moment.
Natalie and Bri trusted me to do exactly that, and it was an honor to document a wedding celebration that felt so genuine from beginning to end.
While their day was rooted in candid, documentary moments, we also carved out time for a handful of intentional portraits. Natalie and Bri loved movement, so many of their portraits focused on walking, laughing, and interacting naturally, balanced with a few classic poses that never go out of style.
Every couple has a different vision for their wedding day, and my role is never to force a certain style or turn the day into one long photoshoot. My job is to listen first, then document the day in a way that feels true to them. Whether that means a fully documentary approach, more editorial portraits, or a blend of both, I photograph each wedding the way my couples want to remember it.
